ABOUT ZOOM CLASSES

How the online class will work…

  • You will receive an email with a Zoom link about 20 minutes before the class.

  • 5-10 minutes before the class starts, click the link to join.  Please note that you will be in a ‘waiting room’ initially.

  • On entry, mute yourself if it hasn’t automatically done so.  This is important so that background noise does not disturb the teaching.  There is a message function on Zoom which you can use for any questions or queries.

  • You must let the teacher know about any health issues or injuries.  This information is private and confidential.  You can email or pre arrange a zoom call to do so.

Points to consider…

  • Make sure that there are no potential hazards in the space you are using for the online class.

  • Check that your device is fully charged or plugged in so that you do not incur any loss of power during the class.  It is also an idea to turn off all notifications so that they don’t disturb the class.

  • Ensure that you and your mat are fully visible to the teacher.  You may want to take extra time before the class starts to do this.

  • Note whether or not you have a piece of wall space in the room that could be used.  It doesn’t need to be big, or full length.  For example, depending on the class, it may be for just the hands or feet to the floor or legs up the wall.

  • Iyengar Yoga does use props which you may not have at home.  Household items can be used instead.  Towels, blankets, cushions, pillows, a hard book, a belt and a chair are items to consider.

  • Make sure you have eaten in plenty of time before a class.  Depending on what time the class is, leave a couple of hours after a light meal or 3-4 hours after a main meal.  See that you are fully hydrated 30 mins before class.  NO DRINKING DURING CLASS unless for medical issues.  If this is the case, please let the teacher know beforehand.
